Todd Bullard

As the Head Athletic Trainer, Bullard is responsible for the health and wellness for all UTC student-athletes. He also manages the athletic training rooms and staff of assistant athletic trainers, graduate assistant athletic trainers and student athletic trainers. He also works in conjunction with the University's Graduate Athletic Training Program.
Bullard graduated from West Alabama University in 1998, with a degree in Athletic Training. While at West Alabama, he worked as a student athletic trainer with the sports of football, basketball and rodeo. He then earned a master's degree in Exercise Science and Biomechanics from the University of Mississippi in 2000. While at Ole Miss, he served as the graduate athletic trainer for the sports of football and volleyball.
Following his graduation, he served as the Head Athletic Trainer at Belhaven College in Jackson, Miss., for three years. In August, 2004, Todd served as the school's interim athletic trainer and was named the Head Athletic Trainer in May of 2005.
Bullard is an active member of the National Athletic Trainer's Association and the Tennessee Athletic Trainer's Society. He is also a certified strength and conditioning specialist. Bullard volunteered as an assistant athletic trainer at the Dixie Nationals Rodeo Championships from 2000-2003, and worked the Blue-Gray College All-Star Football Game in 1997.
Todd is married to the former Jenny Meeks of Signal Mountain, Tenn., in 2000. Jenny was a scholarship volleyball player at the University of Tennessee and has worked as an assistant volleyball coach at Ole Miss. She teaches English at Girls Prepatory School in Chattanooga. The couple has two sons, Austin Todd and Tyler Graham.

Dr. Mitchell joined the UTC Sports Medicine family in September 2011 after a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Utah where she worked directly with all of the Utes' athletic teams. Here professional interests run the gambit from injury prevention to acute and chronic injury care, interventional pain management, nutrition, exercise physiology parameter testing, and work with endurance athletes specifically with triathletes, swimmers, cyclists, runners and ultra-marathoners. Additionally she also has a special interest in women’s health issues relative to sports injury care and prevention. She is Chattanooga's only female, primary care, sports medicine fellowship trained physician.
Personally she is a 3 time IronMan Triathlon finisher. Her most recently completed race was the IronMan Wisconsin Race in Madison, WI, where she finished in 15:40:09. She also enjoys hiking and competitive cycling. But her favorite personal past time is sleep.

Joe Baugham, MS ATC

Mr. Baugham became part of the UTC athletic training staff in July 2011. He is a graduate of the UTC Graduate Athletic Training Education Program. Baugham resides in Chattanooga, Tenn.

B.J. Layser, MS, ATC

B.J. Leyser joined the Chattanooga Mocs athletic training room in August of 2011. He is in charge of the overall health and well-being of the men's basketball team, while overseeing the men's and women's cross country and track and field teams.
Leyser came to Chattanooga from the University of Alabama where he got his master's degree in Health Studies/Health Sciences with an athletic training concentration in May 2011. He spent two years on the capstone working with the volleyball program.
He implemented and organized all medical care for the Crimson Tide volleyball team. This included normal gameday and practice responsibilities, designing all exercise and rehabilitation plans for injured student-athletes and supervising athletic training students.
Prior to continuing his education in Tuscaloosa, Leyser worked for a variety of professional organizations. He was the head athletic trainer for the Mississippi Sea Wolves Hockey Club (2008-09), Tulsa Oilers Hockey Club (2007-08) and Tulsa Talons Arena Football League 2 (2007-08). He was an athletic training intern for the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights Hockey Club (2006-07) as well.
He was an athletic training student at Central Michigan where he earned his undergraduate degree in December 2006. There he assisted in all aspects of the department with football, baseball, volleyball, softball and men's and women's track and field.
Originally from Lansing, Mich., Leyser holds memberships in the National Athletic Trainers Association and National Strength and Conditioning Association. He received the Fire Chiefs Commendation Award in Tuscaloosa for saving a man's life during a basketball tournament in July 2010.
Jessica Tanner

Ms. Tanner joined the UT Chattanooga staff in August 2008 following a graduate assistantship at Auburn University, where she earned her Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration with a minor in Sports Management. At Auburn she worked with the men’s and women’s track and field teams as well as the men’s and women’s golf teams. Prior to her graduate assistantship at Auburn Jess earned her undergraduate degree from James Madison University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training. While at James Madison, she won several awards including the Aimee Gunnoe Outstanding Athletic Training Student Award. A native of West Milford, N.J., Tanner resides in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Erin Weaver
Assistant Athletic Trainer - Women’s Basketball/Soccer/Insurance Coordinator

Ms. Weaver joined the UTC athletic training staff in August 2009 after spending the previous 3 years at Charleston Southern University. While at Charleston Southern she was responsible for the health care of the women's soccer, men's and women's cross country and track and field teams. Additionally, Ms. Weaver taught a practicum course for the undergraduate athletic training program at CSU. In 2008 Erin presented at the South Carolina Athletic Trainers' Association Annual Meeting on functional rehabilitation techniques,
Prior to CSU, Ms. Weaver graduated with a Masters of Arts degree in Physical Education with an emphasis in Sports and Fitness from the University of Central Florida where she also worked with volleyball team. Erin's undergraduate degree is from Valdosta State University where she majored in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training
She is native of Lawrenceville, GA and enjoys spending time with family, friends and her dog.

Adam Chinery, ATC

Adam Chinnery is in his second year as a Graduate Assistant on the Mocs' Athletic Training staff. Chinnery graduated from Western Carolina University in May of 2009 with a B.S. in Athletic Training. He completed a 10-month internship at Wofford College from August 2009 to May 2010 working with men's and women's cross country, baseball and assisting with football. Adam is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Countess Davis comes to UTC after completing her undergraduate education in Athletic Training at The University of Alabama. She is currently serving as the Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer for Track, Cross Country, and Tennis while working on a Master's Degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology.

Ian Carruthers begins his first year at Chattanooga as a graduate assistant working with the Mocs football program. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Millikan University in Decatur, IL. His responsibilities included head training student for women's basketball and men's soccer while assisting with football, men's basketball and track and field. Ian also worked with the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in New York City, London's New Year's Day Parade and at the High School, College and World Cheerleading Championships in Orlando, Fla. Ian is pursuing his Masters in Clinical Exercise Physiology.
