Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures
Major and Minor Information
Professor Felicia Sturzer, Acting Head
The Department offers the B.A. degree in Foreign Languages with concentrations in French, Greek and Latin, Latin, and Spanish. Elementary and intermediate Chinese, German, Italian, and Japanese courses are also offered. A German major is in the process of being developed. Modern Language courses, taught in English, focus on foreign literatures and civilizations, and afford the non-foreign language student a broader perspective of other peoples and cultures.
The Department also offers a minor in Classics, French, Greek, Latin, and Spanish. A German minor is being developed. A native speaker of a language offered for credit by the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures or anyone with native speaker proficiency in the language should consult the Department Head for proper placement and permission to enroll.
