Yes, you CAN become a better reader after puberty!
Many students believe that their reading ability was fixed at some point in elementary school, but reading comprehension can be improved at any age through the use of rehearsed thinking/reading strategies. We will practice research-based reading strategies with a series of short, interesting, and diverse passages from the Internet, magazines, and even children’s literature in multiple content areas. We will also attempt to tame the textbook beast by learning specific strategies for dealing with difficult and dense reading material.
This course is tentatively set to be offered on Mondays at 2 p.m.
Note: Please check the schedule of classes for the most up-to-date information about meeting times, locations, and availability.
