Natural Disasters: Does Hollywood Get it Right?
A critical evaluation of the accuracy in representing natural disasters in popular Hollywood films. We will watch several recently released films that include depictions natural disasters such as volcanic eruptions, earthquakes or the earth's interior. Afterward, we will discuss the inaccuracies or fallacies presented to create or extend a plotline, and explore what the correct observations or depictions would be.
This course is tentatively scheduled to meet on Wednesdays at 5:00 p.m.

About the professor
Ann Holmes teaches geology courses at UTC and also at a geology field camp for University of Missouri in Wyoming's Wind River Mountains in summers. She is interested in stratigraphy and paleontology as well as Earth Science education.
