Body Images: Beauty and Health
We can learn much about a culture from how persons express themselves through body modification and beauty standards. Contemporary culture demonstrates an obsession with looks from eating disorders to plastic surgery. At the same time, we also see great concern about health reflected in our concern with bodies, such as the concern about weight. This class will explore how the debates surrounding beauty and health standards interact and inform our own experience.
This course is tentatively scheduled to meet on Tuesdays at 4:30 p.m.
Note: Please check the schedule of classes for the most up-to-date information about meeting times, locations, and availability.
