… providing a new perspective on the art and science of trading and investing.

Our mission is to:

  • Embrace both art and science in finance by focusing on the behavioral and psychological aspects of decision-making.
  • Champion diversity of culture, experience, gender and thought to improve business leadership.
  • Expand ethical, professional, and personal skills necessary for success in the rapidly changing economy.
  • Engage students in understanding and taking risk through professional experiences, technology and trading.

Finance for the Future features

State of the Art Bloomberg Lab and Trading Room
Students gain hands-on knowledge of real-time trading with a live ticker, CNN market feeds, and 10 Bloomberg Trading terminals.  All College of Business majors now have the opportunity to become “Bloomberg Certified” through this unique, self-paced program.

Finance for the Future Curriculum
Finance majors in the College of Business have the opportunity to choose a FFI-focused Senior Seminar Course that embraces the FFI mission and provides them in-depth knowledge and insight into the neuro-science of trading and investing, behavioral finance, as well as the history of market bubbles and crashes.  Students gain “real world” knowledge of trading and investing from area professionals in the field.

Rotman Trading Competition
Four undergraduate finance majors participated in the RTC in Toronto Canada, placing 34 out of 50 schools, and won the first heat in the Interest Rate Case study.  This is the first time at this competition for the “UTEN” team, which competed against predominantly Ivy League schools and graduate programs.

Trading and Investment Club (TIC)
Finance for the Future students started up the first “investment club” at UTC COB where they will participate in real trading experiences and portfolio management.

Wall Street Ready
An important part of FFI is to produce graduates who are “business world ready.”  As part of this effort, students take an annual trip to Wall Street to visit the NYSE along with trading and investment professionals in New York.

Behavioral Finance Symposium
This inaugural FFI sponsored event was held at The Chattanoogan Hotel on October 11-12, 2011.  The symposium provided a venue for leading academic researchers, as well as practitioners to present and discuss cutting-edge ideas in the behavioral finance arena.
