Position:  Graduate Research Assistant (GRA)
Discipline: Environmental Science
Concentration: Environmental Toxicology or Chemistry
Closing Date:  Open until filled

This is a 2-year, full-time research position.  The research will fulfill the research requirements for a Masters Degree in Environmental Science.    The position is part of a larger study to determine if there is a correlation between human placental metal concentrations and birth weight of the associated infants.  In brief, that study will collect the placenta at the time of birth; next, the metals will be extracted from the placenta and subsequently measured via Inductively Coupled Plasma (ICP) spectrometry.  The GRA will conduct the aforementioned process and will also be in charge of sample collection, data analysis, risk assessment, development of peer-reviewed manuscripts, and laboratory management.

Ideal candidates will have experience with ICP or other analytical equipment (e.g., HPLC or GC).  Analytical experience is not mandatory as long as the candidate is dedicated to learning the ICP process, is an independent thinker, dependable, and has a great attention to detail.

The stipend is very competitive and will depend on the amount of experience of the applicant.  Money is available for tuition support. For further details, please contact Dr. Richards.

To apply, please send a curriculum vitae, cover letter, and names of three references to:
