Short Courses

The College of Engineering and Computer Science, in cooperation with the Division of Continuing Education, is offering a series of seminars on generator protection and transmission line protection.

The next generator protection short course is scheduled for June 7-10, 2011, in the Engineering, Math, and Computer Science (EMCS) building at UTC.

 

 

Transmission Line Protection Short Course

Leveraging the world-class expertise of the Department of Electrical Engineering's faculty, this course explores the fundamental principles of protection of high-voltage transmission lines. It provides an in depth study of both pilot and non-pilot protection methodologies including the latest developments from the IEEE Standards and Guides.

Who Should Attend

Electric-power utility engineers who need in depth understanding of the design concepts and methods used in protecting transmission systems. Engineers with protective relaying manufacturers. University power system educators and graduate students.

Prerequisites

Participants should have an electrical engineering degree or equivalent experience and basic knowledge of symmetrical components, protective relay and power system protection.

Generator Protection Short Course
