Criminal Justice Graduate Program

The general purpose of the Master of Science degree in Criminal Justice is to prepare graduates for leadership, education, and research roles in the field of criminal justice. Graduates from this program will emerge with a thorough knowledge of the major substantive areas of the criminal justice system with refined analytic, critical, and evaluative skills, and with specialized skills and competencies appropriate to the requirements in the field and to the student’s professional needs and objectives.  The degree prepares graduates for leadership in management positions in criminal justice and social service agencies, or entry into doctoral study. The program places emphasis on development of skills in critical thinking, communication, and applied research. Selecting from a variety of specialty courses, students devise an area of specialization based upon their educational or career goals. Many opportunities are available for collaboration with faculty as well as involvement in community service projects and research.

Students from any undergraduate major are welcome to apply, although some supplementary undergraduate coursework may be required, depending on the undergraduate major.
