Keith Cawley brings nearly eight years of sports broadcasting experience to the classroom and currently serves as the main sports anchor for WRCB-TV Channel 3 in Chattanooga. He joined the Communication Department faculty in the fall of 2011 to teach an introductory course on sports writing and sports broadcasting.
Cawley came to Chattanooga more than four years ago after a two-year stint as the weekend sports anchor/reporter at WTAP-TV in Parkersburg, West Virginia. He's always embraced a sports broadcaster's "do-it-all" mentality, and his professional experience includes anchoring, reporting, shooting and editing video, writing, producing and creating content for the web. He has earned "Best Sportcaster" honors from the Associated Press in both Ohio and West Virginia, and his work in Chattanooga has been recognized by the East Tennessee Society of Professional Journalists.
Cawley earned his bachelor of science degree in journalism at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio, in 2004 with a focus on broadcasting, Spanish and sports industry. During his time at Ohio U., Cawley served as sports director for WOUB-TV/FM/AM, a PBS-TV and NPR radio affiliate station in Athens run by the school. He also spent time as supervising producer for the award-winning student-produced high school football "Gridiron Glory" and the Ohio University football coach's show "Bobcat Blitz," and interned at WKNR 850 AM sports talk radio in Cleveland, Ohio.
