Senior Communication major Coti Howell (right) is hard at work during the Riverbend 2008 Festival along with another intern, Lora Hamilton. As an intern for Friends of the Festival, Howell assisted with ticket sales, meet and greets with the musicians and sponsors and other promotional work related to the week-long music festival.

 

Jennifer Hiett, an intern in the graphic design department at Williams Company, displays some of her work.  Her supervisor, Michael Sisk, (behind the poster) said he hoped the printing company could hire her after her internship.  Pressman Joe Ostrowski anchors the other end of Jen’s work.

 

Troy  Mills interned with the Campaign to Save the Environment, assisting with community relations for the organization in Los Angeles.  Here he is rallying public support at the 2008 LA pride for the Human Rights campaign.

 

Whitney Gardner, an intern for the American Civil Liberties Union of Tennessee, has assisted in designing and preparing brochures and manuals on various civil rights and civil liberties topics. She has also written press releases, copy edited, and formatted documents for the Nashville-based organization.

 

While working for WDOD/WDEF Radio in Chattanooga, Will Abel set up remote broadcasts for the stations and helped with other production work.  Will also learned the other aspects of the stations including promotions, production and sales.

Kayla Martin served her internship in the University of Tennessee at Knoxville Sports Information Office.  While there, she wrote news releases, assisted writing and editing of the 2008-09 Tennessee Lady Vols Basketball Media Guide, researched Top 25 poll information for Lady Vols Basketball opponents from 1976-present and helped with other communication projects for the Lady Vols.

 
Fred Giles served his internship at Turner Network Television in Atlanta in the summer of 2008.  Here Fred is setting up a switcher for a NASCAR Post Race show.  Fred also helped out in TNT's six studios with lighting, audio and set construction.
 
Interns at WTCI Public Television helped on the production crew of Antiques Roadshow during its stop in Chattanooga in July.  Interns assisted the producers of the show, worked on production crews and ushered guests.
