| About the UTC Communication Department
Mission Statement (According to Department of Communication Website)
UTC's communication curriculum is designed to prepare students through training in the liberal arts and sciences coupled with professional skills development to enter the professions related to journalism and mass communication. The program goals include developing professional skills that will provide a foundation for success in an ethnically diverse and culturally varied environment.
Resources
To support curriculum efforts, the department has five laboratories, including two writing labs, two audio/video labs and a television studio. In addition, a reading room is available for student use. A seminar room is used by the department and student organizations and the Public Relations Student Society of American (PRSSA) Chapter has its own office.
Faculty
The department's faculty is its primary strength. The faculty represent a variety of communication, journalism, and education experiences. Three of seven faculty members hold either endowed chairs or honorary titles based on their teaching, research and service. All communication faculty are involved in student advising and campus-related organizations.
