Angela Ballard, adjunct faculty
Angela Smith Ballard, APR, is an adjunct professor who teaches Public Relations Tactics for UTC's Communication Department, where she has also served as an instructor for Media Writing I, Intro to Public Relations and Publication Design. Prof. Ballard also serves as adviser to the UTC chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and its student-led public relations firm. In addition to her work as a public relations consultant, Prof. Ballard is also an on-air personality with Sunny 92.3 (WDEF-FM).
Prof. Ballard has worked as the director of media relations for an international manufacturing company, as the director of marketing and public relations for a regional nonprofit organization, and as president of her own boutique public relations firm. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication: Advertising and English Literature from UTC, where she served as features editor of the University Echo, and a master’s degree cum laude in Public Relations from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Prof. Ballard is currently pursuing a doctorate in Learning and Leadership through UTC’s College of Health, Education and Professional Studies. She is accredited in public relations by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and is certified as a Radio Marketing Professional by the National Association of Broadcasters.
Prof. Ballard is a member of the UTC Faculty Senate, serving on the adjunct faculty committee. She is also founding board member of Art 120, a newly-established nonprofit promoting independent artists and galleries within a 120-minute radius of Chattanooga, as well as an active member of PRSA, the Junior League of Chattanooga and its Jottings magazine staff, the Chattanooga School for the Arts and Sciences PTSA board of directors and Rivermont Presbyterian Church. Prof. Ballard and her husband, Mike, live in Highland Park with his sons, Zack and Ben.
