Grote HallThe Department of Chemistry is housed on the third and fourth floors of Grote Hall. Located within the department is instrumentation with a value of about one million dollars. This includes a superconducting 400 MHz Fourier Transform Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer, a Single Chrystal X-ray Diffractometer, a Liquid-Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer, a Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer, as well as modern equipment appropriate for an outstanding undergraduate program in Chemistry. A detailed list of instruments is below.

Library resources include more than 5,000 volumes in chemistry and on-line access to the 46 journals published by the American Chemical Society. The department also offers a new PC computer lab in Grote 316. This lab operates from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. weekdays. Each computer has high-speed internet access as well as Microsoft Office, molecular modeling software, and other specialized chemistry software. The computers are networked to a laser printer which is controlled by the GoPrint program.

There are two student study rooms: Grote 326 (a quiet room) and Grote 324 (home to the chemistry club and more study tables)
