Grote Hall

The Department of Chemistry is housed on the fourth floor of Grote Hall. Located within the department is instrumentation exceeding one-half million dollars in value. This includes a superconducting 300MHz Fourier Transform Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectrometer, a Gas Chromatograph-Mass Spectrometer, three Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrophotometers, as well as modern equipment appropriate for an outstanding undergraduate program in Chemistry.

Computer LabLibrary resources include more than 5,000 volumes in chemistry, 60 chemistry periodicals, and on-line access to all the journals of the American Chemical Society. The department also offers a new PC computer lab in Grote 304. This lab, furnished courtesy of the Grote Fund, operates from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. weekdays. Each computer has high-speed internet access as well as Microsoft Office and molecular modeling software. The computers are networked to a laser printer. There is an additional computer lab in Grote 405 that has new PC computers and 4 G4 Macintosh computers.
