Step One - Advising/Preparing Your Schedule

If I am a current student, how will I register?

  • To sign up for fall 2012 classes, follow the instructions listed below.

    1. Review the MAcc and MBA fall 2012 class schedules on the COB Graduate Programs web site at http://www.utc.edu/Academic/BusinessGraduatePrograms/calendar

    2. If you are a current MBA or MAcc student, email your proposed schedule to either Elizabeth Bell (Elizabeth-Bell@utc.edu) or Mike Owens (Michael-Owens@utc.edu) in the COB Graduate Programs Office at least 24 hours before you are scheduled to register. (E.g. if your registration is on a Monday, you will need to submit your schedule by 3:30 p.m. on the preceding Friday.)

    · You must get your schedule approved before your alternate PIN# will be released to you on Blackboard.

    · Because the UTC registration system doesn’t recognize your undergraduate prerequisites, many graduate courses require your advisor to perform prerequisite overrides before you can register for a class. Sending your proposed schedule in advance, gives your advisor time to do these overrides.

    4. Access your alternate PIN # on Blackboard. Once you email your schedule to your advisor and your schedule is approved, your alternate pin will be available on Blackboard (UTC Online) at 10am on your priority registration date. (Note: If classes on your proposed schedule are full when you try to register for them, send your advisor an email with a list of alternate course(s).)

Please see the chart below to determine the day your PIN will be available on Blackboard and the date that you will be able to first register.

    • Accessing Business Graduate Students’ Blackboard/UTC Online page- If you do not have access to the “College of Business Graduate Students” organization on Blackboard, please let the COB Graduate Programs Office know IMMEDIATELY so that you do not miss out on your priority registration. If you need Blackboard access to this group please call 423-425-4210 or email Elizabeth-Bell@utc.edu.
    • Planning Your Schedule- Required courses, prerequisites, course descriptions, and class schedules can all be found on the College of Business Website. Students can use these tools to map out their own course schedule.
    • Putting Your Name on a Waitlist for Closed Classes- If you want to be on a closed class waitlist, email Elizabeth-Bell@utc.edu.

If I am a new MBA or MAcc student or a non-degree seeking student, how will I register?

  • In order to register, new and non-degree seeking students are required to schedule an in-person advising appointment with the COB Graduate Programs Office.
  • Contact the COB Graduate Programs Office at 423-425-4210 to set up an appointment.

If I am a current student, may I still set up an advising appointment?

Yes, if you have questions about your fall schedule and want to talk to an advisor, feel free to set up a traditional phone or face-to-face meeting. Call 423-425-4210 to set up an appointment in advance of your registration time. Or if you have simple questions, email Elizabeth-Bell@utc.edu or Michael-Owens@utc.edu.
