How do I find out if a course from another college is equivalent to a UTC course?

Do junior college courses count for junior or senior level courses at UTC?
No, any course completed at a junior college (two year/associates) will only count as a 100 or 200 level course at a four-year institution.

How will my previous course work be evaluated?
Once accepted, the Office of Admissions will evaluate all previous course work for credit. Courses accepted will be assigned UTC equivalencies and input into the student information system.

What if I do not agree with the evaluation of my previous course work?
Students who believe their previous course work should count differently than evaluated can submit a request through "First Place", 101 Hooper Hall, to have the course re-evaluated. If the course is determined to have been incorrectly evaluated, the student's RAP sheet will be updated. If the course is determined to be evaluated correctly, the student can opt to complete a petition asking for their course work to count towards a specific course or category.

How do I find out if a course from another college is equivalent to a UTC course?
Students can view some equivalency charts for regional community colleges online. Click here to view online equivalency charts. For schools that are not listed, students should contact the Admissions Office. If the Admissions Office does not have any information on file, then the student will need to contact the department head of the course.
