Do deficiency or developmental courses count towards my cumulative GPA?
No. Deficiency or developmental courses are considered institutional credit.

Do deficiency or developmental courses count towards my required 120 hours?
No. Developmental courses are considered institutional credit and are not calculated in the 120 hours. However, deficiency courses will increase the minimum number of hours required to graduate and are counted in the earned hours column on the RAP sheet. Both types of courses count toward full-time status and the HOPE scholarship hours.

What is a deficiency?
Students who are lacking one or more of the mandatory high school unit requirements, will be required to make up the missing course work.

What is a developmental course?
A developmental course is a course designed to improve a student's skill level prior to enrolling in a college level course.

How do I know if I have any holds?
Students can check for holds, by logging into their UTC MocsNet account and clicking on "Student Information".

What does it mean if I have a “hold” on my account?
A hold means the student needs to take care of unfinished business. A student can have a hold on their account for a variety of reasons. The most common are: missing immunization records, outstanding parking tickets, tuition balance, course deficiencies, developmental courses or other monetary reasons.

Will a hold prevent me from registering?
Developmental and deficiency holds will not hinder registration. Students have one semester grade period to submit immunization records. After the first semester, students will not be allowed to register until immunization records are provided. Any student with a monetary hold will not be able to register until the hold is removed.

Who do I contact about a parking ticket?
Students can pay their parking tickets online or in person at the Bursar’s Office, 215 Fletcher Hall.

What if I have an immunization hold?
Students with immunization holds should fax their immunization records to UTC's Student Health Services, 423-425-2266.
