Who do I meet with to discuss which classes I should take next semester?
Business majors meet with the COB Undergraduate Academic Adviser in Fletcher 408.

Do I have to be advised?
Yes, all students must be advised in order to receive their updated advisement code.

How often do I have to meet with an adviser?
Business majors are required to meet with the COB Academic Adviser one time per year. Students with UTCID's ending in an EVEN number meet in the fall; UTCID's ending in ODD numbers meet in the spring. Students may also want to meet with an adviser before graduation.

Will a hold prevent me from being advised?
No. Holds only prevent a student from registering. Students should be advised as early as possible so that when their hold is removed they can register immediately.

What is an Academic Adviser?
An Academic Adviser is a person who helps students navigate the technical aspects of earning their degree or taking college courses. The Academic Adviser assists with course selection, degree requirements, graduation requirements, petitions, etc.

Who is my Academic Adviser?
All business majors are advised by the COB Undergraduate Academic Adviser in Fletcher 408.

What is Advisement?
Advisement is the process of meeting with an adviser and selecting courses for the upcoming semester, semesters or graduation. All students should bring a current RAP sheet, current class schedule and tentative schedule with them to meet with the adviser.

What is an advisement code?
An advisement code is a four digit alpha-numeric number used to register for classes online.

What is a faculty adviser?
An faculty adviser is any full-time, tenure track faculty member under a student's major. Faculty advisers are a great resource for selecting a major, choosing a career, preparing for graduate school, learning about licensure, and other non-technical degree topics.

When should I be advised?
Students should be advised before their Priority Registration Date. Students can be advised throughout the year as often as they choose. Students can meet with the COB Academic Adviser throughout the calendar year. Faculty members are available by appointment throughout the year.

What do I do after I am advised?
Once a student is advised, they should take care of any holds and register on or after their appointed registration date.

What if I don't follow my adviser's recommendations?
Students should be extremely careful when choosing to deviate from an adviser's recommendations. Simple changes such as changing from an 11:00 class to a 9:00 class do not require additional advisement. However, decisions to drop one course to add a different course could post-pone graduation. When in doubt, always ask an adviser.
