How do I know if I received credit
for previous course work?
Included in your acceptance letter will be a summary of all
previous course work and their UTC equivalencies.
What happens after I submit my application?
Once you submit all your application materials, the Office of
Admissions will evaluate your application for admittance and
any previous coursework. Once approved, the Office of Admissions
will send you an acceptance letter.
What do I do once I am accepted
to UTC?
All new incoming freshman and transfer students should contact the Admissions
office to RSVP for orientation, 423-425-4662 or 1-800-UTC-MOCS.
Students re-admitted to the University should should contact the COB Academic Advisement
Center to meet with the Academic Adviser, 423-425-5111.
How do I apply to the College
of Business at UTC?
The College of Business does not have a separate admissions policy. Any student admitted to UTC is eligible to declare a business major.
What is the application process?
Please refer to the Admissions Home page for the current application process.
What are the application deadlines?
Applications are due no later than four weeks prior to the beginning
of the semester in which admission is desired. Freshmen applying
for fall admission, must apply by August 1st for full consideration;
the priority deadline for spring is December 1st; the priority
deadline for summer is April 15th.
How long does it take to
be admitted?
The length of time to receive your acceptance letter depends
on when you apply, how many applicants are under evaluation
and how quickly all your materials arrive.
Are there separate entry requirements
for the College of Business Administration?
No, the College of Business Administration entry requirements
are the same as UTC’s. Simply declare one of the business
concentrations as your major on your UTC application.
What are the types of admission?
During the application process, students are classified according
to their academic history. A student can be classified as: a
first-time freshman, an incoming transfer student, a readmitted
student, an international student, a transient student, a post-baccalaureate
student, a non-degree seeking student or a graduate student.
What is a first-time freshman?
A first-time freshman is a student who has never completed a
college course after high-school graduation. Dual-enrollment

who has already earned one Bachelor’s degree and is returning
to earn a second undergraduate degree. Post-bach students are not required
to complete any additional general education requirements, but
are required to complete 30 hours at UTC. Hours earned for the
first Bachelor’s degree do not apply toward the 30 hours.
What is a readmitted student?

at UTC, but who has not attended classes at UTC in the last
two consecutive semesters or who was suspended or dismissed
from the university.

at UTC.
