Dear Dr. Scheidt:
Over the past few weeks I haven't been able to stop thinking
about your class. It really may have already impacted my
career! A few weeks ago, I heard that one of our clients
was really having trouble with Sox 404 compliance and we
were sending a team to their office to help. I have a big
interest in internal control due to taking your class and
asked to go with them. After the first day, I was able
to prove myself a leader on my team by providing a clear
knowledge of information systems and different business
transaction cycles. This is the first year this has to
be done due to the new compliance laws and regulations
and your class has prepared me for it!
Hope everything is going well with you!

Dear College of Business:
Thanks for the email about the available position at the
Securities and Exchange Commission. I'm not in a position
right now to take advantage of something like this, but
I appreciate the fact that UTC is looking out for us all.

Dear College of Business:
Thanks for the Saturday business alumni event. It was good
to see some familiar faces and the lunch was very good.
Wish more people had attended. They just missed out on
a nice event! Thanks again.

Dear Dr. McClung:
I am a UTC MBA alum who earned my graduate degree in June
1998, with an emphasis in Accounting. After utilizing
the skills that I acquired in the UTC MBA program over
the last 6 years, I wanted to share with you my high
regard for this program, as well as, my professional
success.
On a daily basis, I continue to rely on both the accounting
and broader management tools I obtained from the UTC MBA
faculty and curriculum. In addition, my UTC MBA degree and
skills have made the difference in the quality of positions
for which I have been considered and subsequently obtained.
I have since relocated from Tennessee to Houston, TX and
now Cincinnati, OH. It is my sincerest belief that the UTC
faculty played an integral role in my success as an accounting
professional in these competitive geographical markets.
I again relied on my MBA skills last November in sitting
for the Uniform CPA exam. With the pressures of being a first
time candidate and taking the last paper/pencil exam, I passed
all four parts with scores ranging from a high of 95 and
a low of 85. My 95 was in Financial Reporting, the section
in which the majority of content was covered in the classes
I took from Dr. Alvis.
Both at work and in my following education, I am confident
I will continue to use the tools I acquired from the UTC
MBA program in pursuit of additional professional achievements.
I wish you all continued success in providing this higher
level of accounting and management skills to other student
professionals.
Best Regards,
Callie Burton ‘98

Dear John (Fulmer):
I enjoyed our Corporate Connection lunch with the faculty and business students at UTC. I hope to be able to work with them in the near future. We have reviewed the resumes that were given to us and I believe we will talk further with some of the students.
Thanks for allowing us to sponsor the lunch yesterday and tell the students about our firm and field of work.

Dear College of Business:
Thanks to all who helped make the 3rd Annual Alumni Golf Tournament a success. I thoroughly enjoyed the day, the golf, and the fellowship. I look forward to hearing about upcoming events and, of course, next year's tournament.
Thanks again for all of your hard work,

Dear College of Business,
Thank you for the alumni golf tournament. I don't think my teammates are all that happy with whoever put the teams together but I again enjoyed the day immensely.

Dear Dr. Long,
I apologize for not keeping in touch. I want to thank you for being an excellent professor. I had a great time managing the TVA portfolio and loved your classes both as an undergraduate and graduate student. I also wanted to thank you for calling me about the adjunct finance professorship in August of 2004.
The LSU Tigers are winning and I am doing great! I miss the beautiful city of Chattanooga though. You may remember that I moved to Louisiana after graduation. A family friend who worked as a tribal administrator for the Jena Band of Choctaw Indians called and interviewed me for an accountant position. He left four months after I was hired and I resumed many of his responsibilities. The tribe now wants me to work on economic development. I will finally get to use my degrees!
Sincerely,

Dear College of Business:
I received my undergraduate and graduate accounting degrees from UTC and want to express my gratitude for receiving an excellent education. The professors at UTC are passionate about teaching and are exceptional at providing students with both technical and practical skills needed after graduation. They bring the real business world into the classroom through personal experience and the use of relevant case studies. The curriculum prepared me to use accounting, communication, and research skills that gave me a distinct advantage over my peers when I started my career in public accounting. I am proud to say I am a UTC College of Business alumnus.

Dear Dr. Fulmer:
Back in the late 80's you gave me the opportunity to enter the MBA program at
UTC. I had to take some undergraduate classes to bring up my GPA before I
was accepted into the program. I was successful and Graduated in May of 91.
I just received the nice magazine about the UTC College of Business and realized
that I never thanked you for giving me a chance to complete my education.
Thank you very much for giving me this opportunity. If anyone else comes
to visit you, please remember about second chances!

Dear Dr. Taylor:
I officially accepted a great career opportunity this week! I owe many thanks
to you. If it were not for you, I would not have known about the position
in the first place. I particularly want you to know how much I appreciate
your recommendation, as well as the encouragement you gave me.
Thank you!

Dear College of Business:
Thanks for sending emails to alumni about job opportunities. Even though the
position is not a match with my qualifications, it was nice that you sent
out the notice to UTC graduates. I look forward to receiving more emails
regarding other opportunities and happenings at UTC’s College of Business.

Dear Dr. Fulmer:
It’s been a very long time, but I was sitting here thinking of everyone
at UTC and wanted to drop a note. My life is going very well, due mainly to
my two degrees from UTC. I appreciate all the guidance and assistance you provided
me while I was an undergrad. It did not go unappreciated or forgotten, and
I just wanted you to know that!
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Dear Dr. Ahmadi:
After the thousands of students that you have taught over
the years I know you won't remember me but I remember you.
I took two statistics courses from you over 20 years ago
at UTC when I was working on my accounting degree. I was
getting nostalgic and looking at the UTC website today
when I ran across the faculty directory. When I saw that
you are still working there I had to send you a quick note
of thanks. I don't think that I would have made it through
statistics if I had taken the courses from someone else.
You actually made it enjoyable. There are not too many professors that
I remember from my college days but you were one of my favorites. I'm glad
to see that you are still in education and I'm sure you have made as big
a difference in many other students' college experience as you made in
mine. It might seem strange to be telling you this so many years later
but, as they say, better late than never!
Thanks again!

Dear Drs. Fulmer and Lesseig:
I just wanted to thank you again for the opportunity to speak to the UTC Financial
Management Association yesterday. I personally enjoyed listening to the other
presenters, and the variety of their careers. I certainly would not be where
I am today without the help of a lot of people at UTC, thank you.
Sincerely,

Dear Dr. Taylor:
I just wanted to let you know that I did, in fact, get the job at Caterpillar Financial in Nashville, so the job you emailed me about is a mute issue. However, I do still really appreciate you looking for me and investing your time into my career search. I appreciate it more than you know!
Thanks again!

Dear Dr. Fulmer:
Thank you for the opportunity to speak to a few of your accounting classes yesterday. I consider it a distinct privilege and a pleasure to share with upcoming professionals the opportunities presented to me as a result of my education at UTC. I would put the education I received at UTC against that of other institutions any time.
Dr. Fulmer, it is difficult to believe that it has been 20 years since I graduated from UTC. As college students, we tend to be a bit self-consumed, and sometimes forget to thank those who assist us along the way. Thank you for your contribution to my education. My education, along with hard work and some long hours, have allowed me to enjoy going to work each day, to know a sense of accomplishment, to provide for my family and to save for the education of my own son. You and your colleagues continue to provide an institution anyone would be proud to attend. Congratulations.

Dear Dr. Fulmer,
Thank you for helping me find this amazing new job opportunity. It is very special for me as a student to know that professors would go out of their way to help students find opportunities like this in the community.
I have been very involved with UTC for several years, and if you ever need anything in the future, please feel free to contact me anytime.

Dear Dr. Turpin,
I just wanted to thank you for being such a great professor. You were able to push me to levels that I didn't think was possible for myself. Your instruction, along with the determination that I gained while in your class, helped me pass the Financial section of the CPA Exam. I just received the CPA test results back this past weekend. I passed all four parts on the first try!
Thanks!
