Approximately 300 students attended the Finance Speaker Series hosted by the Department of Finance on Thursday, October 9th from 9am-5pm in the Auditorium of the University Center.  Dr. Bento Lobo moderated a panel discussion on “The Financial Crisis: What are its causes? Can we fix it?” and “Professional Designations”.  Panelists included Christopher Hopkins - Barnett & Company, Jon Long - SunTrust Bank, Ben Miller -Unum, Ziad Keilany - UTC Economics Department.  Lauren C. Templeton, Founder and President of Lauren Templeton Capital Management LLC, and Scott Phillips, Portfolio Manager, Head of Research, Lauren Templeton Capital Management LLC, spoke about "Investing the Templeton Way” and “Hedge Funds”. R. Alton "Al" Duke, Managing Director & Principal, Tenth Street Capital Partners LLC, spoke about “Private Equity Capital”.
