Chambliss Bahner & Stophel establishes endowment to formally recognize top business students and honor John C. Stophel

John C. Stophel, partner at the law firm of Chambliss Bahner & Stophel (CB&S), was admired by business and community leaders throughout the Chattanooga area for his solid business acumen, leadership style, and service to his community, including UTC.

After his death, the firm wished to leave a legacy at UTC in his honor and established an endowment to support the annual Chambliss Bahner & Stophel Student Recognition Banquet, at which the John C. Stophel Distinguished Students are formally recognized.

The purpose of the Chambliss Bahner & Stophel Student Recognition Banquet is to debut UTC’s top business students to the business community and community-at-large. The John C. Stophel Distinguished Students are high potential students at the senior or graduate level who, like John Stophel, have made significant and meaningful civic contributions to UTC and COB while maintaining a strong academic record.

Chambliss Bahner & Stophel has been part of the Chattanooga community for over 120 years and has built a rich heritage of highly successful client service by anchoring its practice in time-honored principles of legal scholarship, professionalism, innovation and skillful, vigorous advocacy.

CB&S attorneys are dedicated to academic and professional excellence but are also recognized for their commitment to community service and their involvement in local charitable and civic organizations.
