About the Speaker
John D. Houston, CPA, is founder of John D. Houston, CPA, a Chattanooga CPA firm. He has more than 30 years of public accounting experience in the Chattanooga area, including more than 12 years of service with two national accounting firms.
Houston’s tax consulting and CPA practice provides tax compliance and consulting services to a diverse business clientele including companies in the business services, wholesale, retail and real estate business segments. He also provides individual and fiduciary tax services for business executives, professionals, investors, self-employed individuals, trusts and estates. His areas of tax specialization include income and estate tax compliance services and tax consultation, consultation on choice of business entity, consultation on business merger and acquisition transactions, purchases and sales of business assets and representation before the Internal Revenue Service.
Houston is a frequent speaker on various tax topics with an emphasis on recent federal income tax developments and tax legislation. He is active in TSCPA and currently serves on the TSCPA Federal Taxation Committee. He is a former TSCPA Chattanooga Chapter President and TSCPA Board of Directors representative. Houston has previously served as board chairman for the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Chapter of the American Red Cross and is a past president of The Estate Planning Council of Chattanooga.
Houston is a 1977 highest honors graduate of the College of Business Administration at The University of Tennessee, where he majored in accounting and management science.
Purpose of Series
To bring to the College and to the community outstanding individuals
in the areas of accounting and auditing and at the same time provide a
basis for the enrichment of and mutual cooperation between participating
groups.
Parking
Parking is available in the garage adjacent to the Chattanooga Trade and Convention
Center.
CPE Credit
Those attending the technical program are eligible for one hour CPE credit.

Look in the mail for the monthly newsletter of the accounting and auditing
organizations of which you are a member for the lecture series registration
information.
Register for the lecture with ONE sponsor. All other organizations of which you are a member will be given credit for your attendance. College of Business alumni and friends who are not members of the cosponsoring groups are welcome to attend the Accounting Lecture Series luncheon.
