Because some of this information is private, it falls under the protection of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act or FERPA which makes it a crime to distribute this information to non approved people. It is also a crime to view this data for reasons other than a legitimate academic need.
Because of the importance of being in compliance with the FERPA act, UTC requires all faculty to receive unservicing on the FERPA act rules and, for the faculty's convienence, on the use of the WebASIS system.
