UTC head football coach Russ Huesman and junior defensive end Davis Tull each received extensive post season honors for their roles in leading the Mocs to a historic 8-4 SoCon championship season. Huesman finished 17th in the voting and was a finalist for the Eddie Robinson Award given to the National Coach of the Year. Tull finished 13th in the voting and was a finalist for the Buck Buchanan Award given to the National Defensive Player of the Year.
Tina Clevenger wants to pursue a law degree so that she can help people who live in poverty. She feels there is work to be done to fix the flawed legal system so that laws are structured to better assist those living below the poverty line. Clevenger, a UTC junior Business major and Spanish minor, is one of three recipients of the Jean Bradford Memorial Scholarship.
The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Department of Music will host the upcoming 2014 Trumpet Festival of the Southeast. The festival will be held at the UTC Fine Arts Center from January 17-19. Admission to see performances by guest artists and a jam session is free and open to the public.
Lanni Marchant has put in a lot of miles since she graduated from UTC in 2007. The former student-athlete is now one of Canada’s top distance runners, recently breaking the Canadian women’s marathon record.
